hello there.

Well, whaddya wanna know?  Here's the plain and simple truth:  My name is Rebekah Tennis and I love design.  I love paper, the way it feels, its weight and texture.  I love extra special touches on little things: homemade tags on gift-wrap, old stamps on an envelope, and twine on nearly everything.

My husband, business partner and all-around solid rock Matt would probably tell you that he likes tools - lots of 'em, finding the perfect way to do something, taking things apart, and precision in everything.

So you might as well have guessed by now... we are the perfect match for an old letterpress studio. Together we farm rice and have three adorable and active boys ages 5 and under.  This keeps us fairly busy, but whenever we have a spare moment, we crank up our 102 year old Chandler and Price platen press and pull some prints, or whip out a card line on the Heidelberg.

There's more, oh yes, there IS more - but that's what this blog is for.  Take a look around, get to know us, our great town of Chico, California and our beautiful presses.

sweet potato chickpea tagine.

Popping in here with a quick recipe. I’ve been totally crushing on tagines lately! Perhaps it’s the winter weather (no that can’t be it, because we haven’t been having any), perhaps it’s the abundance of root vegetables at the farmer’s market (likely) or maybe just that cozy soup/stew feeling you want to have as the […]

bebop-a-rebop rhubarb pie.

Last Sunday someone was offering free stalks of rhubarb in a big bucket at the back of our church foyer, and although I was intimidated by the pure green color I snagged a fistful to take home.  Isn’t rhubarb normally red? Not always, as I found out later via our friend google. Anyway, I settled […]

in defense of fruitcake.

I’m here today to talk about fruitcake. Yes, really. Poor fruitcake. Much maligned, much joked about, even rumored to be banned by the TSA (it’s not true, I assure you). And we’ve all heard the laugh about there only being one real fruitcake in existence, passed around each year ad nauseam. Here’s where I stir […]

my journey to homemade pie crust.

**I’m sure you all are headed every which way in your Thanksgiving travels (I wanted to get this post up much earlier, but what can I say? Three kids and letterpress holiday season) – I hope you all travel safely!** ————————————————————————————————— This post has been long in the making. Remember two and a half years […]

fresh roasted tomato pasta.

This summer I have been craving freshness. Perhaps because it’s been so hot lately, perhaps because I’m trying to drop the freshman sophomore mid-marriage fifteen that have crept up on me since the boys came along, but whatever the cause, my summer mantra: fresh, fresh, fresh. I also have been craving simple (fancy that). So, […]

{ roasted cherry chocolate cake }

Well, it has been a while since we’ve had a recipe on the blog, eh? Six months at least (November 8th, to be exact)! High time we cooked something, yes? Our littlest youngest guy turned two last week. You can see his adorable Korean-inspired first birthday (last year’s dol) right here. This year we had […]
